I am convinced that no one can really understand life without the help of the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff. I have worked with them for over forty years and from om angle have not been able to change myself very much more than just aging would have done anyway. But I tell you I would not like to have lived without them.
If you want a quick introduction, the best is still the lilltle book of five lectures by P. D. Ouspensky called "The Psychology of Mans Possible Evolution". You will need more than that, but it is a good start.
