The Impossible Girl

The night is cold
The snow just about to fall
I infuse my soul with the black and sweet longing
ever since the last moment of ephemeral passion.

On the island lost in the dark ocean,
I run over white beaches
her stars watching over the sharp cliffs.
I stop in terror when I see the lantern.

For I fear her and love, the impossible girl
Still she stands,
Gazing into the abyss of fire in me
with her steel will and kind eyes she whispers

I love you

After all that has been said
After everything we didn’t have time for
In the attic under the candle lights
By the lake on a perfect cloudy day

The shadow crawled unnoticed by me
A poisonous moment that pierced my lungs
The morning I greeted without a soul
The days I spent empty and mute.

And at the end, as did I, she still madly cared
She struggled to say what I already knew.
And I helped the words get out warmly,
Never bitter nor cold:

Life just happens.
