Hello everyone! Pozdrav svima!

This week I'm going to show you one of my battles featuring Oshuur Constantia - amazing Dragon splinter magic attack/support card. It was introduced to the game with Riftwatchers release as a pre-sale promo card.

Rarity: LEGENDARY
Element: DRAGON
Attack: MAGIC
Abilities: Resurrect (Reflection Shield, Tank Heal)

~~ LORE ~~

In time immemorial, the realm was beset by innumerable calamities: a thick cloud of poison that choked the air, the swelling of the sun, drowning floods, terrible storms, earthquakes that shook the land and brought great mountains to ruin, and the fading of ley lines.

Subsequently, the boundaries between this realm and other realms and planes grew frail and, eventually, broke down. Creatures never before seen spilled forth, and great tides of elemental mana filled the ether.

Wars raged as various factions vied for supremacy, bringing an already ruined realm to even greater ruin. Ultimately, none emerged victorious. In their fervor for ultimate power, they destroyed each other and, in the process, themselves....

~~ STATS ~~

This awesome legendary card has decent stats that are the same for first 3 levels - 2 magic attack, 2 speed and 6 health, with magic attack going to 3 at max level. Nothing special, but still enough to make a difference in a battle.

stats.png

But what makes a real difference in a battle are not her stats but her amazing abilities.

First one is the Resurrect ability that Brings a friendly Monster back to life with 1 Health after it dies. This ability can only trigger once per battle.

Resurrect.png

This is extremely useful ability, especially when you use it with a tank that has a Taunt and a lot of armor (since it will be brought back to life with 1 health, armor is it's only protection). It's even better if that tank has a Void Armor so it's not vulnerable to magic attacks.
Another great thing about this ability is that if more than one monster on your team has this ability, multiple monsters can be resurrected.
Only downside it that monsters cannot resurrect themselves.

How to counter Resurrect ?

  • Only thing you can do to prevent a resurrect is to kill the monster with resurrect first, before it gets a chance to use its ability. That is hard to do when facing a taunting tank - this is where Scatter Shot comes in handy.

At level 2 she gets the Reflection Shield ability that makes this Monster immune to all indirect, or reflected damage. That means that it will not take damage from Blast, Thorns, Return Fire, or Magic Reflect.

ReflectionShield.png

Another great ability that really comes in handy when playing against monsters with Blast ability or in battles with Explosive Weaponry ruleset.
Since Oshuur is magic attack we're not worried about Thorns and Return Fire but this ability helps her against Magic Reflect.

How to counter Reflection Shield ?

  • Instead of indirect damage you have to use direct damage on monsters with this ability. In case of Oshuur, since she's magic attack, Snipe is good thing to have.

At level 3 this card gets Tank Heal ability that Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round - 1/3 of the max health, rounded up.

TankHeal.png

Remember how I said that Resurrect is useful with tank that has Taunt? With having a Tank Heal in there is simply amazing. She heals the tank and then if he dies she resurrects him - can you ask for more?

How to counter Tank Heal?

  • Only counter to Tank Heal ability is Affliction that makes the target unable to heal.
  • If you don't have a monster that ability you need to out-damage the heals, meaning you have to do more damage per turn then the amount of health the Tank Heal restores.

~~ MARKET PRICE ~~

This is the price of regular foil and gold foil card at the moment of writing this post.

market.png

As you can see the price is still pretty high, which is simply a reflexion of how good this card really is.

printed.png

There is 11k total cards printed (only Doctor Blight had more cards printed out of all the other legendary promo cards) and there isn't many of them on the market.

sixmonths.png

Price of regular foil version is holding steady, while the gold foil one is slowly dropping after initial hype.

~~ BATTLE REPORT ~~

Today's battle is a great show case of Oshuur's awesome abilities. It wasn't a long battle, it was all over in round 5, but there was a lot of action all over the place.

~~ RULESET ~~

Ruleset in this battle was just perfect for a nice showcase of Oshuur's abilities.

I will try to explain each part of the ruleset, so you get the better understanding what was I thinking when I picked my line-up.

Ruleset.png

Noxius Fumes
All Monsters have the Blast ability.
The best strategy is to have fast monsters with Snipe, Sneak, Opportunity. For defense, Shield and Void will come in handy.

Mana cap for this match is 99 mana
This is the maximum mana available. We can choose all the fancy pricy cards we want.

Available splinters
For this match we had Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon splinters available. Or, shorter, all the splinters except Fire. My opponent chose Earth splinter and I chose Dragon in combination with Water splinter.

splitter.png

~~ STRATEGY REVIEW ~~

When I saw the ruleset my first thought was that I need a Tank with a Taunt and right behind him a monster with Reflexion Shield. This way the rest of the team is protected from Blast damage and free to do their thing.
I predicted that my opponent would go full magic attack (because that's what I would do, and actually did) I chose Sthispa summoner for her Phase ability she gives to my whole team, hoping it would lead to a couple of misses on enemy side.
Since I had 99 mana to I had all the monsters in my disposal to chose from. Of course, I turned Dragon splinter and to my strongest tank - Agor Longtail with Oshuur Constantia by his side. Only dilemma was do I go for second Resurrect monster or full dps.
I chose the more safe way, went with Water splinter and River Hellondale. I even added extra armor to my tank by putting Venari Wavesmith in, just to be safe.
A couple of damage dealer and I was set.
My opponent, totally predicable, went with Earth splinter and Scarred Llama Mage summoner in combination with Kron the Undying at last position, supported by full magic attack (except the tank Grund with his Double Strike).
None of this helped his cause. Why? Continue reading and find out.

~~ LINE-UP ~~

You can see the line-up from both teams in battle screenshot right after this section. I will go through my line-up and explain why was each card picked and put in that spot.

SUMMONER
Summoner

STHISPA

Dragon splinter epic summoner that gives all friendly monsters Phase ability.

I chose this summoner because I didn't want +1 speed from Kelya and thise gave me some protection against magic attack.
1st POSITION ("TANK")
Tank

AGOR LONGTAIL

Dragon splinter legendary tank card. Costs 15 mana, has melee and magic attack.

Flying - Immune to Earthquake, adds 25% to evade chance.
Taunt - Makes all enemies attack this monster.
Void Armor - Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health.

I picked this monster as a tank because I had enough mana for him and his abilities makes him one of the best tanks in the game.
2nd POSITION
2ndPosition

OSHUUR CONSTANTIA

Dragon splinter legendary support card. Costs 7 mana, has magic attack.

Resurrect - Brings dead friendly monster back to life.
Reflexion Shield - Immune to all indirect, or reflected damage.

I picked this monster to resurrect my tank when he dies and I put her in second position to block Blast damage.
3rd POSITION
3rdPosition

VENARI WAVESMITH

Water splinter rare support card. Costs 5 mana, has magic attack.

Protect - Gives all friendly monsters +2 Armor.

I picked this monster to give my tank (and the rest of the team) extra armor and I put her in third position to make space between my 2 Resurrect monsters.
4th POSITION
4thPosition

RIVER HELLONDALE

Water splinter legendary support card. Costs 7 mana, has magic attack.

Resurrect - Brings dead friendly monster back to life.

I picked this monster to resurrect my tank when he dies and I put him in fourth position to be separated from Oshuur so they don't both die if one of them gets hit.
5th POSITION
5thPosition

SUPPLY RUNNER

Neutral common supports card. Costs 6 mana, has ranged attack.

Swiftness - Gives all friendly monsters +1 Speed.

I picked this monster to give my team extra speed to be sure they go before the enemy. I put him in the fifth position because he's ranged attack.
6th POSITION
6thPosition

CHAOS DRAGON

Dragon splinter legendary damage dealer card. Costs 14 mana and has magic attack.

Flying - Immune to Earthquake, adds 25% to evade chance.
Scatter Shot - Attacks random enemy target, immune to Taunt.

I picked this monster to (as his name says) wreak chaos with his Scatter Shot and Blast damage. I put him in last position to be protected, as he's the main damage dealer.

~~ THE BATTLE ~~

This was a slow paced battle, with a lot going on on both sides. Let us see how it went exactly...

Round 1

Round1.jpg

Since both my opponent and I had a Taunt monster in the line-up first round was mostly about everyone targeting that monster with one big difference - enemies damaged only my tank, while my team did damage all across the board.

Round 2

Round2.jpg

In round two my tank died for the first time but he was immediately resurrected by Oshuur Constantia. He was still the only monster on my team to receive damage, since Oshuur did exceptional work blocking the blast damage.
My opponent lost 3 monsters in this round, all victims to blast damage.

Round 3

Round3.jpg

In round three my opponent looses another monster, and his tank is left on only 1 health.
My tank dies for the second time but gets resurrected by River Hellondale and my opponents nightmare continues.

Round 4

Round4.jpg

My tank dies for the third and final time, but it doesn't matter, so does my opponent's tank. He is left with only one monster versus five of mine.

Round 5

Round5.jpg

Not even the Last Stand he got from him summoner helped the mighty Kron the Undying to keep his "Undying" title.
My guys put him out of his misery once and for all.

~~ RESULT ~~

Result.png

It was a much easier fight then I expected. It was fun to watch all that Blast damage being reflected by Oshuur, while on the other side my monsters nibbled away enemy health with each hit by damaging at least 2 monsters.

splitter.png

~~ CONCLUSION ~~

Did your strategy work?

  • Yes, my strategy worked out perfectly. Tank with Taunt and Void Armor in combination with a couple of monsters with Resurrect is very hard to beat.

What will you try differently next time?

  • Probably switch out Venari Wavesmith with some damage dealer to speed things up. I was playing it too safe.

Do you like OSHUUR CONSTANTIA? Why or why not?

  • I simply LOVE this card, I use it with Agor all the time. Her only downside is relatively high mana cost, so she can't be effectively used in low mana battles.
