For some reason I don't like the animated version at all, I think it shows you the enemies much better, at least I feel they are more visible. I never spent much time with Starcraft, in fact, I don't remember almost anything, only its visual aspect that you don't forget. I don't know what the story of this game is, but since you mention it's good I might give it a chance again, maybe I'll end up being a better strategist.
