Last summer, the scent of freshly grilled sardines on a beach in Portimão drew me from my lazy afternoon sunbathing. For just €12, I devoured two mouthwatering sardine sandwiches served with cold beer, chatting amicably with locals at communal tables set up around the old port area. The following morning was filled with an enchanting reenactment of traditional fishing boat arrivals, complete with music and dancing. With pleasant weather in October in Algarve, it's the perfect time to soak in this vibrant atmosphere again.
