My walk began at Ilkley’s Riverside Gardens and included stops at Addingham’s historic Low Mill weir and the ancient Castleberg fort ruins. The path led me through charming landscapes to Bolton Abbey’s lush woods and parkland, home to a 12th-century monastery’s remnants. With cool temperatures in September, it's perfect for wandering along the River Wharfe and taking in the Dales' serene beauty as you avoid summer crowds.
