Last autumn, I strolled along the brisk River Wharfe from Ilkley to Bolton Abbey, passing through quaint villages and historical sites. Starting at Riverside Gardens in Ilkley, I walked past the ruins of a Roman fort, crossed an old stone bridge, and admired the Low Mill weir in Addingham. My journey culminated at the stunning Bolton Abbey amid picturesque woods and parkland. With mild weather expected in September (12°C), it’s an ideal time to explore the tranquil River Wharfe before the cooler months arrive.
