This summer, I took a serene six-mile walk along the River Wharfe from Ilkley to Bolton Abbey in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Starting at its charming Riverside Gardens, the path winds past historic sites like an ancient Roman fort and Addingham's Low Mill weir, before culminating at the awe-inspiring ruins of 12th-century Bolton Abbey. With cool +11°C temperatures in September, it’s a perfect time to explore these tranquil riverside trails without the intense summer heat.
