Last summer, I strolled along the tranquil River Wharfe from Ilkley to Bolton Abbey, passing by historical sites like a Roman fort and an ancient stone bridge. The walk continued through charming villages such as Addingham with its scenic Low Mill weir and ended at the picturesque ruins of Bolton Abbey set in stunning woods. As August is a cool month in Yorkshire Dales with temperatures around +12°C, it’s perfect for enjoying these serene river walks in comfortable weather.
