Hey, y'all! My name is Claire and I'm so pleased that I get to learn, share, and grow with this budding community!
My primary interests include homesteading, permaculture, and self-sufficiency. Although I do have some practical (but mostly theoretical) knowledge on these subjects, I currently live in an urban apartment in North Western Indiana and it is hard to keep livestock when you don't have a yard. I do have a rabbit and a beagle puppy and they both do plenty to earn their keep around here.
I have a different way of doing just about everything and sometimes it goes against the grain of social normality. For example, I've been washing my laundry by hand in the bathtub with home made detergent and hanging it up to dry since about 2013. People's reactions to that tend to range from curiosity and excitement to horror and disgust. Everyone has an opinion, I suppose, but mine is that it's okay to be poor and it's not okay to be dirty. I'm just trying to make the right decisions for myself and my community.
My ultimate goal is to get my family farm back in Tennessee up and running again but that seems like a really long way off. For now, I'm honing in my skills and trying to be as self sufficient as I can be on a patio.
