Every device is trackable, every system is hackable and every call is traceable. There are lots of surveillance cameras all around and face detection software running inside their main server. ISP’s are logging everything you do online. Cell phones share your personal information to third parties through permissions you give to various applications. Your geolocations is saved in your pictures taken with your cell phone. Google, Facebook, Twitter track you on the internet. Besides them lots of commercial cookies record your actions online and hit you with personalized advertisements. Communication companies such as Facebook or TTNET share your vital information with officials. Google builds personal profiles of how you think and what you like based on your search records. Governments secretly place Trojan viruses inside your devices. And now sharing all of your personal information to everyone is the new trend.
Big brother is watching us and yet still there are terrorism, murder and various crimes happening all around the world. Funny thing is the biggest crimes are committed by the governments like wars and brutal attacks on peaceful protests. The story that has been told to us is all of these precautions are for public safety and a better world without violence, but they don’t act peaceful at all. Prisons, police force and soldiers are inhumane. If you stalk someone all the time, record where it goes and what it does it is a crime. When governments do the same it is for safety. So what about other commercial companies recording and sharing our digital footprints? Why are they allowed to track us without lots of us knowing?
Rich and powerful rule the earth and they intend to keep it that way. All of these profiling techniques have a hidden picture behind them, it is to control and manipulate people. Pop up personalized advertisements so you can buy stuff you don’t need and spend maybe the money you earned on 3 days of work time. More you spend more you have to work and more you work system continues to run properly. Most of the people get hacked by governments are human rights activists and journalists because they afraid of their voice. They are afraid that an idea can crack their concrete walls.

It is easy to stay hidden you just avoid the digital. Counter surveillance methods could also been used but nothing is NSA proof. Hopefully there are some good guys working for the society. They protect our privacy by not requesting personal information, encrypting our messages, blocking trackers, deleting cookies, jamming search records, and hiding us from the radars. With the right resources and a little amount of time you can be protected as well.
Let’s assume we are living in a utopic society. There is no poverty. Food, shelter, health, education is free. Wealth is so high that everyone can enjoy every material thing there is. Crime rates are really low. The government is a trustworthy one that evaluates every opinion of the people. People are happy and there is no need to hide. There is freedom of speech and decriminalized drugs. Nations are not the ones that ruling the world but the ideologies. So everyone is free to go and live in different land any time they want. Religious conservative people have their own territories just like communist. In that kind of world complete surveillance might be alright. If everything is well balanced and no one is misjudged then we can say that it is for the public safety. There are psychopaths who kill people for fun and it is crucial to prevent them.
But in our society the power of surveillance is misused and it harms its own people. Like it is said in the documentary Panopticon, do you have curtains in your home? Yes I do have damn curtains and I mind if our government tries to peek inside. We have different world views and I don’t want to get harassed because of mine. People like us not get arrested because of their actions, but because of their words.
