I accidentally read the subject of an email I got before dismissing the notification. It was from Binance and in typical marketing fashion it read "The most affordable way to get started with crypto."
Which obviously irritated me because that is a blatant lie.
Binance is an exchange and affordable means: "Give us money."
Obviously, it is just marketing bullshit, which is the same reason there is any money in that stupid Ethereum.
If it is about a 0-cost way to get into crypto, I really am only aware of the graphenes, Hive, Whaleshares, Steem etc.
Games like Unchained Gods and Immortal Game or RisingStar and Gala and probably others on other chains then allow you to again with zero cost at least earn something.
Binance and other exchanges are mainly preying on the same 'ol sales concepts as people are already used to. Maybe it is just me being on the internet too long, but affordable means spending.
It is not free.
I like free, my windows was free, my photoshop was free and cough cough my entertainment is free.
Exchanges and DeFi aside though. Because to be fair they have a simple product, and it is a product like you would buy a Coke you would buy Bitcoin.
What really comes after?
For games they are gunning down the freemium model, which works well enough. For blogging and content though we have Hive et al. There is a shit ton of features which still need to come in the content and entertainment aspect of decentraland. Till then it is a given though that Hive is a basic store for text and anything else including processing is up to the centralized business using the store.
This is pretty much true I think for many of the other so called content and smart contract-type chains like ICP and NEAR.
I think Avalanche is also in that list, although I am too stupid to understand those things.
By my guess, they are ahead of Hive in many ways when it comes to being able to deploy say a complete social network with all the fancy bells and whistles under one roof.
Anyway, I am getting sidetracked with bullshit musings.
Binance are just lying. They irritate me when they do that shit.
I assume it is filler though, they output emails and content to keep them at the forefront of peoples minds.
IRL it obviously works the same, people pay thousands for billboards no one could care less about but the next time you need something similar you will probably recall that company.
In small towns like mine these are just boards on a pole, and I guess there are people who it works on very well because they keep doing it.
Maybe it is irritating me because even though we don't market the shop and I refuse to play the answer crap on facebook pages game in hopes to help some satan spawn to print a canvas; or even attempt to sell them something that I possibly could do but it is a hassle.
They keep coming, these two legged cockroaches just keep coming and in a cockroach battle there are certain rules, since you can't just willy nilly step on them.
Fortunately some sacrifice themselves and there are small joys like being asked during powercuts why I don't have a generator. Then I get to answer that I do have one but their work is just not worth running it.
Another that is far and in between are these "It was taken by a professional photographer" people. Now there is a difference between print and a PC screen. Surprisingly there is also a big difference between someone who edits in Lightroom vs straight camera raw.
The Lightroom people tend to, albeit probably noobs. They tend to bring a ton of colour in through contrast, this means usually their shadows are actually very dark.
Now if their screen is calibrated this is usually not an issue because a bit of a shift will lighten it and the whites will not get blown out.
If like Mrs. My Photos are Pro you then go home , twice, and compare it to your stupid personal PC screen which is optimized for gaming and movies and just amazing colour. You think you have amazing photos and they should print like that.
Not so much.
Then I get one of my other favourite scenarios and the gist of the text goes: "Just to inform you, that I have checked the photos and the second set is even worse. These photos were taken by a professional..."
The beauty of that is I do not need to reply, I was going to but I thought about it. The key is "Just to inform you."
This more than likely means she has given up. If I were to reply though it would just be a case of getting rid of her. The first key is she shared a picture of her PC screen as "comparison" but when I explained what could have not been correct with the first set she did not mention comparing to the PC.
She did not bring the first set back, which is fine but you are literally withholding evidence. The other key is that I know for a fact she won't get them printed the way she supposedly wants.
So the best and my favourite you will never see them again reply would be: "Ok. You may collect your refund anytime. Thank you."
