Off the top of my head, those are the two main definitions for Compromise that come to mind. They seem very much to be opposites of each other.
For example, I really wanted to continue with my projects this weekend as I have been doing for the past two weeks more. Having found something I can really focus on I compromised to take time from that and play Minecraft. I am not very good at doing little bits of things and when I start on something it is all or nothing. I will spend all my time doing that one thing.
It does not mean I make massive progress or anything it just means that has all my focus. There is rarely any compromise when it comes to me diving into my work. I thought the time for me to find something I can dig into is past and have resigned myself to trudging about mentally.
I might have reached compromise... more like resignation and embracing the ditch.
I almost don't want to be too concerned with the word compromise although it is our topic for the week in @BuddyUp, just because it is so damn generic.
We do it without thinking if someone cuts in line and we can't be bothered? We compromise, asses that it won't take much to just let them be and we wait.
...I tried thinking of more examples. They all turned out to be more compromising with myself than with others.
I tend to say yes too often...
I have this theory if I say yes and they get pissed off then they won't ask again.
It is a tricky theory because when is it due to not finding time, ability or just cause I really don't want to?
Compromise is a bitch. Giving too much and allowing too much will lead to you being compromised instead of in a compromise. Balance as with anything is important, learn to know your own boundaries.
Learn to know yourself and your opponent. Consider their justification and drive. Most people are 100% driven by selfish means and that means you can never say no too often.
Fuck compromise. Dammit, how about we just blindfold and punch it a bit then?
