Hello everyone, the world of NFT is intriging to all, and just like a cat, sometimes someone needs to be curious. Well I was, so I started to explore that world and experiment a little. So here is what I've learn up to now.
First of all, let's go simple. Basically, a NFT is an image, video, music or any media type file that is registered on a blockchain. There are more than one blockchain, Hive is seriously probably the best 😁🤘, but the most popular ones for NFT at the moment are ETH and BNB (Binance). They both have transactions fess (gas fees), BNB seems to be waaayyyy more cheap that ETH. BNB fees are said to be 0.005 bnb per mint (less than 1$). Eth depends of congestion and stuff : it reaches way over the 100$ lately, I even saw over 500 $.
Here is my Binance experience : Nothing ! 😃 you have to be a pre-authorized artist to have the button "create" enabled. It seems that he number was limited to 100, and the selection ended months ago. Eventually it will be open to all, but no one knows when. Too bad as it seens that everything is selling under that platform. Eh well 😁!
Now for ETH, the most popular platform is Opensea. Tremendous fees 👏. No fees to mint the NFT itself, it is done when you are ready to list it, and it goes for the high prices because of the ETH gas price (and a one time fee for first time user). Good news, you follow the the GWEI gas price on etherscan and when you see that it is low, you can have a good deal for about 50$ (even less). Just be patient. Read the fine prints too, if you accept an offer under your listed price, you pay another transaction fee, only when it is bought at the fixed listed price that the buyer pay those fee. Or, if you use auction listing, you do not pay the transaction fees only l if it sells for over 1 ETH. Under 1 Eth, you decide if you accepth the offer and you pay the transaction fees.
I wanted to test it, so I was patient and went for the cheap deal 😁. If you explore opensea, you will realise that the name suits it super well. It is truly flooded, mostly anything you put in there is just like a drop in the ocean. If you do not plan to publicize on twitter or other ways to directly point to your art...good luck 🙂. To give you an idea, if I don't search for my exact title, I am not able to find what I have.posted by exploring, so chances are slims for it get viewed. Actually, using a "auction " listed type, I was suprised but I actually got 1 view on my experiment 😀. So if you plan to sell for real, get ready to talk about it (or maybe make something flashy to attract the eye). Note this : listed or not, anyone can always make an offer on a NFT that you have uploaded on opensea, listing is to attract people with a more specific price. My first listed NFT is called "Inu Supper" is you ever want to see it on there, the not super resolution is below (The details can only be see is the locked high resolution 😉). I had quite some fun with that drawing, hidding stuff at so many places that only I know about, there's even an elephant in the room 😁.
The trick and beauty that makes NFT valuable, seems to be when are part of a collection or if the NFT has some utility. Such as when they can be played in games just like SplinterLands, Sandbox, Chain Guardians or Unchained Gods to name a few. I think that @Splinterlands is the best for me : fast, fun and rewarding.
As for Hive, @NFTShowroom is the place to go. Not as popular as the previously mentioned chains for NFT but Hive is fast, low fee and it has a superpower : the community. So here people see you, you are not a drop in the sea, you are a bee, you make noise, you can be seen and you see others 😄. The fees are low, it's Hive!! I will experiment on it, but I need to step up to Keychain to login in there to do it. I do not use it at the moment, but will do soon. I will keep you guys updated. With time or with some possible chain linking, Hive could be a major keyplayer in that field.
