Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! Come to think of it, it may not be Wednesday for you (with the zones and all) but it is here in Canada. Yesterday I drew a bird and I have to say that I am quite happy with the results. Somehow, the technique that I used seems to work very well for me So I was thinking of doing more animals in the same way, but before I wanted to try something. For me, it is all about exploration at first, to see all possibilities to be able to adjust, practicing, mixing things together. Eventualy, I will be able to have a constant quality to my drawings, which is something that I consider like stepping up.
What I wanted to try is to paint more than draw. Using the oil brushes and getting familiar with the preassure I have to put. A little bit like the india ink pen, it needs some practice to be able to make those fine to large lines in one stroke. So, even if it is not exactly the first thing that came to my mind, I went with a sort of portrait. Yes, I like to make long necks, not many have necks that streches as far, but I like to draw them that way. Portraits are something that I need to practice, I got work to do in that area : They are some artists on HIVE that make more than amazing portraits, I do not need to name them : they really stand out in the posts. I would of course love to reach that level eventually, so to get there, well I have to start somewhere. This way it would give me a chance to practice two thing in just one shot (the technique and portraits). It did not come out the way I really wanted, but it could have been so much worse. If I do not try I will never know. Besides, I have learned a few tricls in the Tone curves and brushes zones. Now that it is done, I think I am gonna go draw that animal that I wanted initally :-)
