For today's drawing, I went with something quite unusual for me : a regular drawing of a dog based on a reference picture. I am not a fan of reference pictures, but they are an important part of learning to draw, so once in a while...I must do it 😀.
The reason I did a dog is because I have been following @maxwellmarcusart for a very long time. If you've explore just a little, you are sure to have seen a few of works as his style really stands out. Like they said in Stars Wars : "The boy have skills, that's for sure". One of his recent post was part of his animals series and it was a dog. He suggested to color one just for fun and I figured, why not do a dog, after all, I love dogs 😄.
Since I used a reference picture, I went straight with the sharpie to do the basic sketch. I did a technique for references that I have learned from rucoin (sadly he is not a Hive user.). Basically, you start with references traits
After, you connect them in a way to reform the picture you are referring to. Since I wanted to concentrate on the coloring part, I did not go crazy with details to make it realistic, I tried to leave the inside plain, just like a coloring book.
Using a sharpie doesn't really leaves place for mistakes, but I felt pretty confident. Maybe I will draw different animals to explore a little bit, I would have a great slection to choose from that is for sure.
I hope you guys like it, thanks for the view.
