Technology really has changed the world, we all can agree on that. The world is more connected now more than it has ever been. I mean it doesn't matter the location of a person, at the click of a button.

With everything going on right now, technological solutions are used to ensure we all remain in contact and help each other by staying connected even at rough times.

Information sharing is now really easy, at the tap of a button, one can share with the whole world faster than any other means of sharing information. Even many of the political leaders are using social media as platforms to pass their messages to their citizens.

But the sad reality is it all comes at a price, a price which unfortunately many of us don't even realize we are paying.

The creation of social media platforms and applications is brought about by the availability of technology. We are able to share our progress with the whole world, free of charge from any location in the world.

But the dark side of it all is something many of us fail to notice and realize.

One problem created by the onset of all these technological innovations is the death of one's levels of focus and concentration. You will all agree with me that in the world we currently live in, getting anything of importance done has become really tough, especially for those who can't last a minute without satiating the urge to scroll through social media feeds and see what people are posting in their profiles.

The way the algorithms running the backend of the platforms are created are made in such a way, that at every time one takes their gadget and starts scrolling there will always be something new, something novel, which of course goes about messing about with the mind and hormones which are stimulated every time we see something new and unique.

What ends up happening at the end is that we all get hooked, we can't do without our gadgets, we can't live without the internet, we feel restless unsettled and what we turn to satiate our anxiety is more social media content.

What is scary is that no one actually speaks of these bad qualities that we develop from the continued use of these various platforms. No one talks about how we compromise our mental health.

Another problem is, many people get more depressed and have more issues with things such as anxiety, what happens with social media is we only post our best looking photos, with the best-looking backgrounds all smiles on our faces. Which I mean is okay but the effect on those already going through hard times is they feel like they will never get better, the whole world is out enjoying while here you are with problems which never seem to end.

Self-hatred is at an all-time high as the result of people feeling bad for their lives not being soo great as they see others on the various platforms.

As always many of us don't want to acknowledge these negative sides of social media, but the bitter truth is, they actually exist.

My wish is we could live more consciously and make better choices of how we choose to spend our free time.

Everything has two sides, the bright side, and the dark side, and just because one is not aware of the dark side, doesn't mean it does not actually exist.

Till next time, Stay magical. 🙌

Peace! ✌️
