Hey my agricultural colleagues, how has it been with your time in the garden or farm as it were
Few weeks ago, we had our first rainfall over here in Nigeria and that was early February and boom that marks the beginning of the annual planting season has the rain has prepared the earth for crop germination
Hence, all hands are on deck to make sure seeds are laid appropriately beneath the soil, my family isn't an exception you know as we make sure we produce our meals in our own little way so we started off by tilling the already cleared farmland
Bush burning isn't really an habit with us as the soil microorganisms suffer and are killed in the process
So we employed labour to aid in the tilling process
Honestly, I haven't really been part of farmwork nowadays due to my work, it's sucking deep into my time for other activities and I'm glad mom is understanding and supportive
Mom and siblings were in for work, they dug shallow holes for maize seeds after selecting unwanted grasses from the tilled soil, that's hardwork you know and I'm yet to get them some candies for that
And they did the planting the very next day of which I wasn't opportuned to inspect and monitor, I really do miss this part
So I was really out to see how speedy the growth went.....
Mom said the maize seeds sprout after 3 days and I was right there on the third day just to see if it was true and trust me they started off their journey to adulthood
Day one was cool, I saw the rhizomes come out benefiting from the photosynthetic process of the sunlight
I went again to see how far they've gone 5 days later and they were doing just fine, growing up speedily and dancing merrily in the wind direction
And I went again the third time and was excited with what I saw, the growth is great
I'll make sure I update y'all in subsequent times, wishing the maize crops a great growth
I'm sure we'll be adding the cassava stems to the farmland as time goes on
Do have a pleasant time hivians, love ya all♥️
