Hello, friends at Gems, how are you? I’m grateful to God for allowing me to share with you once again. Today I’ll be showing you how to harvest sunflower seeds for replanting.
Since the sunflowers we had in my garden have reached the end of their life cycle—they’ve dried up—it’s time to harvest the flowers, extract the seeds, and plant them again.
Yesterday we saw that the flowers were ready to be harvested, so we picked the ones that were the driest and started extracting the seeds and preparing the soil for replanting.
To grow the plant, the seed must be used within a year, since the embryo deteriorates and the seeds won’t germinate; therefore, once you’ve harvested them, it’s best to plant them right away if you want to grow the plant. However, if you’re harvesting them for oil production, the timing doesn’t matter.
