Just when you thought our Benguet exploration was over yesterday, you're wrong! Adjacent to Baguio City is the humble town of La Trinidad. It's one jeepney ride away from Baguio City; if you're in Baguio City don't miss the chance to take a glimpse of this serene town.
Benguet is known for its cold climate all throughout the year. Since it's a landlocked Province, the major industry here includes agriculture and mining. Fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables of all kinds grow here in Benguet and are being transported to Metro Manila and neighboring Provinces to supply the growing needs of the Metro.
There's a tourist attraction in La Trinidad that is hitting two birds with one stone, agriculture, and tourism. If you haven't guessed yet, it's the Strawberry Farms. Grace and I decided we'll visit this place quickly before we leave that Baguio that day.
Are you a fan of strawberries? Well, I'm not but I still had fun checking out this farm that covers huge farmland in La Trinidad. I don't know the exact measurement but when we visited there, it was impossible to visit all farms within farms in an hour.
What's being advertised is that it's a Strawberry Farm; it's not entirely incorrect for there are indeed small farms within the bigger one that plant strawberries. But there's more to this part of La Trinidad than just strawberries. I've seen varying types of lettuce and cabbage; you can even buy some at an affordable price. If we're heading straight home that day, I surely would buy lettuce!
Aside from picture taking of the farms, this attraction boost of their inventions such as strawberry taho, strawberry ice cream, strawberry shake, and a whole lot of strawberry delicacies. You could say it's a one-stop shop for all things strawberry! 馃ぃ If you're a strawberry lover, come visit this place soon! 馃槉
Well, why did I mention that this attraction is hitting two birds with one stone? They've commercialized the entry to the farm such that every person wanting to go in should pay a minimal entrance fee. These are real farms with real plants/fruits that they harvest to be sold to the Metro and they're hustling from the entrance they get out of every visit! I think it's only fair to pay an entrance fee, of course, they have to maintain the place, and that costs money.
This makes me think again of buying a piece of land in our province, well a bigger own since I have a small one already, and reinventing the space and making it worthwhile for people to visit. Now that is one hell of an idea! Let's see! Hmmm. 馃
