Finally I take you to the West Coast aka the Pacific Coast. After leaving Yosemite National Park and staying in San Francisco for three days (I´m going to make a "city special" one day - let´s focus on nature for now!) we reached the famous city of Monterey. Since they had some special event, there were no affordable rooms to book anymore. We had to stay at a sordid overpriced motel. My husband 
Endlich nehme ich euch mit an die Westküste, auch bekannt als Pazifikküste. Nachdem wir den Yosemite-Nationalpark verlassen und drei Tage in San Francisco verbracht hatten (eines Tages "Stadt Special" machen - jetzt aber konzentriere ich mich auf die Natur!), erreichten wir die bekannte Stadt Monterey. Da es zu dem Zeitpunkt irgendeine besondere Veranstaltung dort gab, fanden wir kein erschwingliches Zimmer mehr. Wir mussten in einem heruntergekommenen, dennoch überteuerten Motel übernachten. The nicer part of Monterey - the harbour.

Close to Monterey you can find the 17 Miles Drive. This is a road leading along the coast, where you can find beautiful spots as Pebble Beach, the Lone Cypress and the picturesque village Carmel by the Sea. After spending the morning at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (there´ll be another post) we decided to drive that special road. Here I´d like to show you my impressions.
In der Nähe von Monterey befindet sich der 17 Miles Drive. Das ist eine Straße entlang der Küste, wo man wunderschöne Stellen wie den Pebble Beach, die Lone Cypress und das malerische Dorf Carmel by the Sea finden kann. Nachdem wir den Morgen im Monterey Bay Aquarium verbracht hatten (dazu wird noch einen Post geben), beschlossen wir, diese besondere Route abzufahren. Hier möchte ich meine Eindrücke zeigen.

In some parts of the road you cross forests and you can even come across deer - drive carefully.
An einigen Stellen durchquert man Wälder und kann sogar auf Rehe treffen - hier ist vorsichtiges Fahren angebracht.

In den meisten Fällen kann man einen Blick auf die schöne Küste werfen.

This is the Lone Cypress, the landmark of this area. This tree is standing for more than 250 years against the rough weather of the coast.
Dies ist die Lone Cypress, das Wahrzeichen dieser Gegend. Dieser Baum widersteht seit mehr als 250 Jahren dem rauen Wetter der Küste.

But there are several, lesser-known, but not less beautiful trees along the way.
Aber es gibt noch mehrere, weniger bekannte, aber mindestens genauso schöne Bäume entlang des Weges.

It is also a paradise for cormorants and seals.
Außerdem ist es ein Paradies für Cormorane und Seehunde.

Well, this one found his way to paradise. We were wondering a while what smelled so badly at the beach until I found him.
Naja, dieser hat tatsächlich den Weg ins Paradies gefunden. Wir fragten uns eine Weile, was da so schlimm roch am Strand, bis ich ihn fand.

Apart from that, the beaches were wonderful.
Abgesehen davon waren die Strände einfach wundervoll.

Finally we reached Carmel by the Sea. This is the only photo I took there. Because sometimes you only want to sit down and enjoy your coffee :)
Schließlich kamen wir in Carmel by the Sea an. Das ist das einzige Foto, das ich dort gemacht habe. Denn manchmal möchten man sich auch nur hinsetzen und einen Kaffee genießen :)
