He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. Proverbs 13:3
Years ago, a group of people lived on one geographical piece of land. They lived in harmony, peace and in tranquility with each other. Togetherness was the word better for their description, where the pain of a brother was the pain of all, and the joy of a brother was a joy for them all. This was a true brotherhood, despite their differences in origin.

Later, a famine broke and food was nowhere for every habitant. Sharing of limited resources became the only virtue to resort to. However, hatred started erupting among brothers. Some families started feeding on others. This led to divisions of families and emerged the Vampire, the Dwarf, the Greener, the Fetish, among others
This famine continued for a long time that taking food from other people's farms was a common thing. A family called the Dwarf was cursed by the Fetish family and charged them of remaining small in stature and never should they see growth from generation to generation. This curse affected the Dwarf family so much including their reputation, growth and many stigmatized them. The final option left for them was borrowing from others specifically from the Vampire family.

The Vampire family was not aware of the curse of the Dwarf family. So these two families underwent an agreement that any amount of money borrowed should be reimbursed when the borrower grew up.
Many years after, the money was not paid because the borrower was still not grown and even becoming smaller due to the food shortage. The Vampires became more furious and decided, one day, to break the agreement and claimed their money in their next visit.
A member of the Greener family heard of the debt of the Dwarf family and quickly went to the Vampires and revealed to them that the Dwarfs have been cursed and would never grow. Virtually, the members were the same and would never changed whether grown or not grown. It would be better you demanded the parents too upon your next visitation to confirm what I just told you, the Greener said and departed.

The Greeners were feared by the Vampires because of their intelligence and how structurally built they were. These gave them much respect.
The Vampire did exactly the Greener told him. And when both parents came, in fact, identical twins were better to show some phenotypic differences. They were all the same, and the Vampire swiftly demanded his money.
Calmly, the Dwarf paid him but, was a bit amazed with the intelligence of the Vampire. Upon demanding the source of such knowledge, the Greeners came to light.
In rendering gratitude to the Greener, the Vampire gave out a cola from the Dwarf, as a quota of saying thank you for exhibiting such magnificent intellect. The Greener was surprised and angrily asked what an insult? So the Dwarf never knew I had no teeth to chew cola? His actions needed to be reacted to.
Oh! Really the Vampire interrupted;
Many times had I gone hungry and worried on what to eat, not knowing all my milieu was surrounded by food. Enough of your lamenting Greener, you should be food for me this evening.

Moral Lessons From The Story
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: James 1:19
In our journey on earth, many things will happen and many will be heard but the best to improve yourself worthy, right and keep yourself alive is to control your lips. Mind your business and do not poke your nose into other businesses when not invited.
2.In our quest of living, situations will never be the same. Hard times will evolve and good times too will come. The way to know our true identity is measured in time changes like this. Our real identity should be the unchangeable personality that distinguishes us thoroughly from all others no matter the circumstances. Be like this community in the story would never bring us the Kingdom of God we seek for in our lives. We must stand united in all situations.
3.The best help as brothers or sisters can give to a brother or a sister is sharing their pains and not adding to the pain. Backbitting should be indefinitely defered in our communities, societies and churches.
4.It is very important to save your life because life is worth-living. Your life is preserved when you control your lips or your tongue. For life and death lie in the power of the tongue, you shall feed on what you desire. This is why Solomon said
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
Proverbs 13:3
Therefore, let our words be edifying to ourselves and others and not to bring them down. May God bless us and keep us to manifest love to all others.
