Joe Maddon had to watch his Cubs finish their game against the Pirates from the dugout yesterday. Maddon was ejected when he left the dugout to argue for his players safety after multiple pitches were made up and in throughout the Pirates series.
Pittsburgh's Jordan Lyles had been sending pitches up and in throughout the afternoon when a pitch came up and hit the end of Cubs player Javier Baez's end of the bat. This left Maddon hot and he went to protest. It looked as if he was trying to get to the opposing manager Clint Hurdle to give him a piece of his mind on his pitching staff's choice before the ump sent him to the back.
What do you think? Is pitching up and in a normal part of the game or should pitchers only focus on staying within the plate?
