Cynthia was in secondary school, and her dream was to become a scientist. She found it very interesting to explore the human body, learn more about plants, and study other things related to science. However, not everyone supported her.
But she kept focusing and asking questions, especially in her science courses. She asked questions to understand.
Some of her classmates and people at home believed that science was too difficult for girls. So when she pushed harder, they kept discouraging her by telling her to choose another career and not focus on science. But the fact is, Cynthia had made up her mind. She loved chemistry, biology, and physics lessons and found them very interesting.
Although she found physics and chemistry very difficult, she did not dislike the subjects. Instead, she tried even harder. Each time she failed a test, she would not be discouraged. She would put in more effort to do better next time.
She always went back to her teacher to ask about what she did not understand, and he would explain it to her so she could understand better. Her classmates would laugh at her whenever she failed. But the more Cynthia failed, the more effort she put in to make sure she succeeded.
Years later, Cynthia was admitted to a university to study science. The journey was not easy, but she continued and pushed even harder. What helped her most was everything she had focused on and given attention to in secondary school.
She encountered similar things at university, and that gave her confidence in the seriousness she had shown in secondary school. That preparation helped her a lot. She also put in more effort at university until she graduated with good results.
Cynthia’s story teaches us that nobody should be discouraged from pursuing a dream because of their gender. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and discover their abilities. We should not allow the people around us to discourage us from pursuing our dreams.
