A few years ago we went to Niagara Falls Canada. I saved a couple of coins as "souvenirs".

The one-dollar coin featured bears the third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to appear on Canadian coins. This portrait, introduced in 1990, represents a significant milestone in the history of Canadian coinage, as it is the first portrait of the reigning monarch to be designed by a Canadian. It bears images of a common loon, a bird which is common and well known in Canada, on the reverse.

The first 2 dollars coin was officially launched on February 19, 1996. It is a bimetallic coin which on the reverse side bears an image of a polar bear by artist Brent Townsend. The obverse, like all other current Canadian circulation coins, has a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Getting pennies in change is fairly common and now and then a dime. These two coins is a reminder of the great time we had there. It was the first time we went anywhere without the children. Could be part of the reason we had such a great time.
