Hello, I greet you from this beautiful space dedicated to the vastness of nature. From here, I wish to express my admiration for those who share a special connection with the natural world. I also want to express my solidarity with my fellow Venezuelans; living in Colombia, I am deeply saddened by the tragedy unfolding in my home country following the earthquakes that struck it—a reminder that nature can be as fierce as it is beautiful.

Speaking of natural beauty, I am presenting my entry for the Most Beautiful Rock contest. For this, I chose a stone that is incredibly common worldwide; in fact, it can be found in diverse environments ranging from beaches, mountains, and forests to deserts and even urban areas. I am referring to Milky Quartz. We encounter it so frequently in our daily lives that we have all grown up seeing it, and many of us even collected it as children. I admit that I, too, was fascinated by rock collecting at one point in my life—a hobby I’ve left behind, though I still keep my collection safe back in Venezuela.

Milky Quartz is a type of quartz that, as I mentioned earlier, is very common; in fact, this white variety is considered the most abundant quartz in the world. It has a milky, whitish-yellowish hue that might look "dirty" at first glance. However, it is fascinating to learn about this seemingly ordinary rock: I discovered that it is composed primarily of silicon dioxide and contains tiny air bubbles within its structure—features that give it its characteristic opaque white color while still retaining a hint of transparency. I knew none of this about a stone I had seen so often throughout my life.

This mineral is considered one of the crystals with the greatest spiritual value and the most powerful within the quartz family. Regarding its age in Antioquia, Colombia, milky quartz formed during the Late Cretaceous period as magma cooled deep within the Earth's crust; it was also used as a tool by pre-Hispanic populations. Today, milky quartz is used in the glass industry and in jewelry making. It is a rock that is both common and beautiful, and is highly valued in various fields.

When you see this stone on your path, remember that it is very valuable and think about how old it is; to me, that is the greatest value a rock can have.

Hola, los saludo desde este espacio hermoso, dedicado a la inmensidad de la naturaleza. Desde aquí quiero expresar mi admiración a quienes tienen una especial relación con lo natural. También desde este espacio quiero expresar mi solidaridad a los hermanos venezolanos, pues desde Colombia sufro por la tragedia que se vive en mi país, Venezuela tras los terremotos que la azotaron y es que la naturaleza es tan agresiva como bella.
Hablando de belleza en la naturaleza, presentaré mi entrada al concurso La roca más hermosa. Para participar elegí una piedra que es una de las rocas muy comunes en el mundo, de hecho, se puede encontrar en distintos medios ambientes, como playas, montañas, bosques, desérticos y también urbanos. Me refiero al Cuarzo lechoso, que con facilidad nos los encontramos en la cotidianidad, tanto así que todos hemos crecido viéndolo y hasta muchos de nosotros lo hemos coleccionado en nuestra infancia. Levanto la mano para reconocer mi fascinación por coleccionar rocas en una oportunidad de mi vida, aunque ya quedó en el pasado pero que mantengo guardada en mi país Venezuela.


El Cuarzo lechoso, es un tipo de cuarzo que como dije al inicio, es una roca muy común, además, hasta se considera que este tipo de cuarzo blanco es el que más abunda en el mundo. Es una piedra de color lechoso, como blanquecina y amarillenta, que, si la vez parece que está sucia, pero resulta interesante conocer sobre esta roca considerada común porque aprendí que está compuesta principalmente de dióxido de silicio y que en su estructura hay burbujas de aire, por todo esto se debe su color blanco opaco con un poco de transparencia al mismo tiempo. Nada de eso lo sabía sobre esta piedra que vi en la cotidianidad de mi vida.

A este mineral se le considera uno de los cristales de mayor valor espiritual y el más poderoso entre la familia de los cuarzos.
Sobre su antigüedad en Antioquia, aquí en Colombia, el cuarzo lechoso se formó durante el Cretácico Tardío cuando el magma se enfrió en las profundidades de la corteza y sobre su uso tuvo utilidad como herramienta por las poblaciones prehispánicas. Mira su valor e importancia aquí.




En la actualidad el cuarzo lechoso es usado en la industria del vidrio y también en joyería. Es una roca muy común como bella, apreciada en distintas áreas.
Cuando veas esta piedra en tu camino, recuerda que es muy valiosa y piensa en la cantidad de años que tiene para mi ese es el mayor valor que puede tener una roca.
