Welcome to my blog!
I greet you with my sincere affection. On this occasion I want to talk a little about the experience with plants that we consider in my family highly beneficial for their effectiveness in the treatment of various ailments and diseases. It is not the first time I give testimony about the use of natural medicine and I have come to the warm Holos&Lotus community to attend the invitation kindly made to me by my friend @emiliorios in the presentation of the initiative of his important column 7mo Día - Bienestar Físico.
Some time ago I made public a problem I have in my abdomen, the diagnoses have been several according to echosonograms. In the first study I had two cysts in a kidney were detected, then in another study an eventration and an inguinal hernia. Later, according to another echosonogram there is no eventration, but two hernias, one umbilical and the other inguinal. I have been seen by several doctors, two of them are surgeons and one is a gastroenterologist at Dr. José Carabaño Tosta Hospital in Maracay, Venezuela. They all agree that I should have a CT scan or an MRI of soft areas because sometimes I have had bleeding, both oral and rectal. This predisposes the doctors because I also have a history of a hysterectomy due to endometrial hyperplasia that did not respond positively to three curettages, nor to oral or injected intramuscular or intravenous treatments. It was two years in a row, with its nights and days with continuous bleeding, until the solution was hysterectomy.
On the other hand, since I was very young I have been living with a diagnosis of seronegative arthritis, specifically I have Ankylosing Spondylitis for which I have been under control and rheumatological treatment. At the age of 22 I had the first of two operations on my left knee for Chondromalacia. My knee never recovered and my quadriceps is atrophied. Likewise the word Arthrosis or osteoarthritis, among other terms such as enthesitis, tarsitis, hydrarthrosis, are in my medical reports. For decades I have used all kinds of anti-inflammatories, analgesics, plus Methotrexate for several years and even for a while I used Humira (Adalimumab) a high cost biologic treatment. So, it's been a lot of pharmaceutical chemistry in my body so I know a lot about taking pills and using injections almost all my life, which caused erosive gastritis at age 23, then I was diagnosed at age 45, moderate gastroesophageal biliary reflux and moderate erythematous bulbar duodenitis. However, I used as a "complement" natural medicine, which changed 5 years ago, when I decided to believe more in the healing power of plants. Now the natural treatment is the main and giving me good results.
Before continuing I clarify that I am currently in Colombia and for now I have tried to have the same natural care but it has cost me, because there is little I can get in the super market and greengrocers. I am not saying that there are no natural products, but when you are used to using medicinal plants from your own garden it is not easy to have to look for them in stores.
Not being at home in Venezuela, I miss very much my garden where I have several of the medicinal plants that have given me relief from mild and also chronic ailments.
As there are not few plants with which we have experienced relief, I made a selection of them and I have brought a list of plants that have been allies to maintain stable health and even to recover it. They are the following:
💚
In my house I have several aloe vera plants that have given me wellness. In my case I use it for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties. I trust in its power to regenerate tissues and I put into practice to eat a little piece or a liquefied spoonful twice a day for three days in a row with rest periods of one week, because aloe slimming and the least I want is to lose more weight. Eating it helps me calm the nausea that comes and goes.
I recommend cutting the aloe penca and let the latex drain for 24 hours. Then peel and use the crystal. I place the shell on my abdomen.
💚
I have an oasis of túa túa plant that I like to have for its antibiotic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. I use the leaf either cooked or natural. If it is for a sore throat my mom likes to gargle it with a pinch of salt. My grandmother and I prefer to put the leaves on the neck with some menthol ointment. I like to use raw túa túa more, even on bumps, inflamed areas such as my joints, especially the lumbosacral region, cervical and shoulders. On my abdomen I place it to alternate with aloe.
💚
Another powerful natural antibiotic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory that I use a lot to get rid of a sore throat. My kids have a great reliance on ginger when they have a little throat discomfort. We use it raw or as an infusion. If you put lemon in it, it has a very pleasant taste. I also recommend it for the treatment of arthritis and osteoarthritis because of its anti-inflammatory action. How nice it was to go to the garden and dig up fresh ginger. For now, I buy it in stores here in Colombia.
💚
The lochita is recommended for memory, for being an excellent brain oxygenator and to treat everything related to brain diseases. As the Locha is the same centella asiatica, it means that it is another healing agent that I can take advantage of for my digestive tract (stomach, duodenum and colon). The way I consume it at home is raw in salads. It tastes like lettuce, my son Alan loves it and I took advantage of it to help him with his anxiety. Alan is a boy with mild autism and a good eater when it comes to vegetables. I was introduced to this little plant by my mom who gave it to me to plant in my house. My mom is also a fan of lochita for its goodness and uses it raw in salads, cooked in stews, soups and as an infusion. How beautiful is my Locha.
💚
Also called oregano orejon is a very valuable plant as an anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic, for its effective use for colon problems, belly pain, I have also used it when there are urinary tract infections or kidney discomfort. Another use that I attribute to it is for coughs and when there are flus I use it in infusion combined with other plants: A large leaf of oreganon, two three leaves of malojillo, a sprig of lemon balm and a leaf of colombiana, preferably sweetened with honey
It is very easy to use and has a very rich smell when touched; I love the smell. In my family they have it in their garden and I also have it in my house. Thanks to my mom I learned to use it even as a spice in meals and how wonderful it falls to me to reduce nausea. I used it daily in Venezuela, I only had to go out to my garden and take a little leaf at the time of cooking lunch, and if they were very small, three or four little leaves. I recommend it chopped in salads. I also recommend oreganon infusion only for abdominal inflammations, even prepare it in a liter of water and drink it all day.
💚
This is another plant I trust as an antibiotic, from what I have learned with my family and because I have seen it act effectively to amazingly heal open wounds that have no apparent solution. The tip for wound cases, prepare a concentrated cooking, but very concentrated. I mean five or six large Colombiana leaves in a cup of water. Let it steep and wash the wound when it is natural. It gives me absolute confidence to take it for ailments in my colon and all my digestive tract. Also in my family we use it a lot when there are flus. Now I am in Colombia without Colombian plant. I remember its broad leaves and how much I used it.

I planted this soursop bush only because of its benefits for high blood pressure. I have a small garden and a big tree is not convenient. But my mom, who has one in her house just for medicinal use, keeps it pruned and brought me a sprig so that I can also have one for my treatment. While I was giving time for my bush to grow, my mom brought me leaves from her house. Well my friend, with five soursop leaves I prepare an effective tea for hypertension. For five years I was only taking natural medicine for this disease and I did well. But my health has been deteriorating and the pressure was getting out of control so I had to start taking pills, now I am with Candesartan 8mg, but in Venezuela even with the pills I continued with my soursop tea, a cup daily and if for some reason I did not take the pills, my blood pressure was not altered.

This plant is excellent for calming the nerves, when there is stress or anxiety an infusion of passionflower is recommended. I know this plant thanks to my mom, she is a lover of plants and natural health. Passionflower is in her house, it has not been able to grow in mine, but my mom always brings me passionflower every time she visits me. I keep it in a jar and it doesn't matter if it gets dehydrated, so I can always prepare it for Alan.

Comfrey or suelda consuelda as I also know it, I met her two years ago thanks to my mom. She had asked me to research on the internet about that plant, thinking about my health due to eventration and hernias. After researching I tell her that it is a plant used by the indigenous people mainly for fractures. I checked in my garden and discovered that it grows like a weed. Well, two weeks go by and my mom suffers a clavicle fracture. She was 70 years old, hypertensive and with Osteoporosis. You can imagine the concern and a surgery was not an option because of her age, her hypertension and because her bones are fragile due to decalcification.
In the emergency room of the José Antonio Vargas Hospital, Ovallera, Aragua State, Venezuela, better known as Seguro de La Ovallera, the orthopedic doctor on duty sent him for an X-ray, she could see the seriousness of the fracture for someone of his age, she immobilized his arm and shoulder with a bandage, while she bought the sling and sent him Ibuprofen for the pain for 5 days. The doctor knew her fracture was surgical, the bone almost broke the skin, but my mom's history was not good enough to operate. And we were not going to take that risk either. We were given an appointment for a repeat x-ray in 17 days. We were all very worried, we knew how difficult the situation was for my mother. At night, when I was already in bed, an illumination from God came to me, reminding me of the plant Comfrey, which I had known and learned about its usefulness for bone fractures thanks to my mother. At dawn we got active and got the Comfrey plant from a friend of my mom's and other neighbors, thank God.
The medicine to heal my mom's collarbone fracture consisted of a Comfrey poultice. In a mortar and pestle she would crush leaves, stem and root of the plant, until all the juice came out. She put it in a jar, with a little bit of olive oil and a little bit of salt. He kept it refrigerated. I would put the poultice on it once a day, with a lot of faith.
At 17 days we went to the Ovallera Insurance for the checkup. They did the new RX and the fracture surprisingly was welded. Amen.

My God, this plant made me want to eat again. There was a time when the nausea was more intense and in a row, it was horrible at mealtime. Until I discovered that lemon balm or pennyroyal, as we call it in Venezuela, is good for treating nausea. I always knew it was good for treating the flu and tasted delicious with lemon. We even use it in my family as a relaxant for anxiety. Me and my kids love it as a refreshing drink, but with lemon, in fact it is my son Alan's Nestea. Going back to the use I gave it for nausea, I only had to add one or two leaves to meals, even salads. Look at my tender lemon balm plant in Venezuela.
In Colombia, I see a house that has a lemon balm bush and every time I pass by there I pick some leaves, as does my oldest son. So I collect and store lemon balm in a container where it dehydrates and I can still use it.

About arnica I have had good times with the use of creams and gels, also using the plant directly in the treatment of musculoskeletal and circulatory type ailments. Due to the disease in the bones come the circulation problems, appearing swelling throughout the body. However, I would like to highlight its usefulness in the treatment of phlebitis in both legs after a fall from a sitting position a year ago. The concern of the fall was for the diagnoses of eventration and hernias, within hours I was dropping blood from my mouth and then felt a pain in my inner thighs.
I went to the doctor and they ordered a Doppler ultrasound in both legs. The lower limbs were swelling to the point that I could not walk or put on shoes. My legs and feet were deformed, completely swollen like elephant legs. My mother got down to work and with arnica flowers she made a decoction with water that she put cold on my legs. That was an intensive treatment and the next day I began to see the results, my legs and feet were a little deflated. By the third day I could walk and wear shoes. Unbelievable. Once the swelling had gone down I was able to go out for the echo doopler.
The study said among many things, superficial varicose phlebitis in the right leg and grade IV Venectasia in the left leg, this is my atrophied leg since I was 22 years old. I was referred to a Phlebolologist and when I went my legs looked normal, because my mom continued to do the treatment of cold compresses based on arnica flowers. I'm sorry I don't have pictures of the arnica plant at my mom's house.

I recently started using Calendula in Colombia, guess who recommended it to me. My mom, from Venezuela. She is always researching about health and plants. She told me about its digestive, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and healing properties, this last one always catches my attention and I quickly buy it to start using it. I use it in infusion, two tablespoons of flowers in a cup of water, without sugar.
💚
Finally, I want to show you the turmeric that I already have and have not used yet. I just bought it and I am going to start using it after hearing the recommendation of a great friend and corroborating it from my mother, who passed me an informative material so that I could see the magnificent properties that turmeric has. But in my case, they emphasize its use for strengthening the immune system and recommend that I start taking it with my children. Reading also I learn that it is good for depression, arthritis, cancer, for skin affections for being a healing agent, it is also anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Turmeric is a real gem.
It is important to be informed about the use of natural medicine to treat any illness or disease. Plants should not be abused because they are natural, misuse can cause undesirable effects and even death. Let's investigate in reliable sources.
I invite @carmary, a nature-loving friend, to participate.
It's never too late to talk about natural health.
