You can disassemble the car to diagnose the problem, then loosely reassemble it while you wait for parts to arrive, to help prevent rust. Most light surface rust that develops while rebuilding can be pretty easily cleaned off; it shouldn't be much of a problem for you. Especially on this vehicle, which seems to be mostly aluminum.
