Many of you know I celebrated my birthday last week. I was very grateful my awesome brother inlaw, Frank, came down to spend the day golfing with me. He lives in Iowa, which is a 5 hour drive from our home.
As it turns out the day of my birthday was perfect for a round of golf. In fact there was a light breeze which kept us cool and the bugs away. We both started great and parred the first hole. We both played well the front nine and then I took the video below before we made the turn to the back nine.
On the back nine, the breeze did create some problems and turning into the wind caused havoc to our balls in flight. Personally I was grateful for the wind and made adjustments, Frank was not as lucky. The rough was very penalizing, and he found it frequently. Often we needed to be directly above the ball to see it sitting in the deep rough. We did manage it though and our scores did reflect the difficult back nine conditions.
After playing our round we had a pleasant afternoon sipping a few cold drinks. Later Mama Bear Martha arrived and we enjoyed succulent NY Strip steaks on the grill. It was a joy to grill them and spend the evening together.
I paired the steaks with a tasty baked potato, sweet corn on the cob, a delishious garden salad, and the meal was complete. It was a wonderful birthday, I have so much to be grateful for!!
