Come and see how they escaped the man with his camera.
The man with his camera was me, and I hardly ever find them out of the dam on the grass embankments. Their specie name is (Gallinula chloropus), and for a while they tried to ignore my presence until I moved a bit closer as then they made a dash for the dam. There is a clump of reeds in the dam, and they live and breed in it and of course they also take cover in the reeds when predators are around. I have posted them with their babies before and maybe I will hopefully get their new little chicks again soon.
I was a bit worried about the weather as some banks of clouds were rolling in and I will show you what the weather looked like in the last picture of the post. The reason I was worried about the weather was that I would not get clear photos in the dark light, but I seemed to get some good-looking shots, you be the judge.
They have big feet and the one ran down the embankment towards the dam in front of me.
Plonk! He jumped into the water.
And there he went.
The other one, I presume it's his wife, ran down the other side of the embankment out of my view, and you can see that I caught her coming in from a different direction towards the reeds.
Look at the reed shadows on the water as she entered it.
I told you that the cloud banks started rolling in, and this is what it looked like.
That is why I love to visit this place, as I find so many photographic opportunities presenting themselves to me. I also took some landscape shots of the mountains with the dam at the forefront that I will show you in another post. Nature is like a story book to me, and it has so much to read, but a person does have to concentrate intensely in order not to miss out. What I mean is that when one takes a cursory look at nature it will only show you mountains, grass, and maybe some flowers.
But then when one takes a closer look, then one will discover the real world of nature from the smallest insect to the biggest bird. I have said before that we all have nature inside ourselves, and so many do not know it as they look at nature through the eyes of profit and developments. Not only that, because greed also plays a role, that they call progress. Big shopping centers and multistoried residential blocks are jumping up all over the place at the cost of destroying the habitation of wildlife. And then of course there is also the curse of the poachers that kill or trap the wildlife to sell them on the dark internet.
Such is life.
