A lovely picture, but can you see what I saw? Look at the wooden railing's top bar near the bottom of the photo.
The farm has a proliferation of wildlife, including big flocks of birds. But there was something different about the big flock of birds that we saw today. They were too big to qualify as Starlings and one will never find a flock of smaller raptor birds of this size. The birds were far down on the farm, closer to the mountains and with my damaged left leg it was quite a walk, but the walk was really worth it.
I was intrigued and decided to investigate.
Here is a closer look at the railing and this looked like doves or pigeons.
Oops! I went too close and yes, they were pigeons as you can see.
But they were not ordinary pigeons, as there was also a lot of them feeding on the ground and they are called Speckled Pigeons (Columba guinea)
The speckled pigeon (Columba guinea), or (African) rock pigeon, is a pigeon that is a resident breeding bird in much of Africa south of the Sahara. It is a common and widespread species in open habitats over much of its range, although there are sizable gaps in its distribution. It is sometimes referred to as the Guinea pigeon due to its similar coloring to some species of guineafowl.

It was the first time for me to see so many speckled pigeons together, as in the town they all appear singular, or in pairs.
Finally, the noise of that tractor scared the birds and they all took off.
And so, I waved as they passed overhead. Goodbye birdies and thank you for the show.
An amazing sight and at some stage a tourist couple came along as they also wanted to see the birds. The lady offered to run towards the birds in order to get them flying for my camera. It was quite a sight to see the birds rising, but I forgot to ask her for permission to take photos of her with the birds, and so I will not publish the photos. Just a fond memory.
What I like about our outings during the power cuts, is that one can never know what to expect. Today is yet another proof of that.
Everyone has a bit of nature inside, be it a love for flowers, landscapes, wildlife, oceans, trails or whatever and I always try to show my passions in my blog, as I am one of those that loves everything to do with nature.
It is a totally different world from the concrete jungles and the only cities in nature are those built by ants and termites. Another thing that I like about nature is the naked truth that is so openly on display. Things are as they should be over the millennia of time. One tree cannot lie to another tree and there is no jealousy amongst the flowers, as they all share their beauty.
