Hola fans del animé que pertenecen a la Comunidad de #TheAnimeRealm. Desde hace tiempo quería hacer un post especial sobre esta serie que marcó mi adolescencia. Se trata de una serie bastante popular que se volvió controversial, y que luego hicieron una versión mejorada de la misma. Hoy hablaré de Full Metal Alchemist y Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

  Les daré mi punto de vista, mi opinión y responderé preguntas sobre cuál es mejor entre ambas, ¿por qué? y cuál vale la pena ver? ¿Y si viste ambas, déjame saber en los comentarios si opinas lo mismo que yo o quieres agregar algo más? me encantará leerte. 💕

  Antes de responder las preguntas, debo explicar un poco de qué trata la historia de estos hermanos para darles contexto a las personas que no saben nada de esta serie.

  La historia se sitúa en un universo donde la alquimia permite crear, reparar y básicamente tener una mejor calidad de vida utilizando esta rama de la ciencia, pero no todos pueden hacer alquimia y los que pueden tienen prohibido crear un ser humano ya que va en contra de las leyes de la naturaleza. Esto fue lo que hicieron los Hermanos Elric (Edward y Alphonse) al querer traer a su difunta madre de vuelta ya que quedaron huérfanos a muy temprana edad.

  Y aquí inicia la aventura, como todo lo prohibido, al intentar esto sucedió algo muy malo. Edward perdió su brazo y su pierna mientras que Alphonse perdió su cuerpo completo, esto tomando en cuenta la ley de intercambio equivalente que dice: que para obtener algo del mismo valor, se debe entregar algo a cambio tomando en cuenta los mismos materiales en cantidad y proporción.

  Para evitar perder a su hermano menor, Edward entregó su brazo derecho y su pierna izquierda a cambio del alma de Alphonse. Y es así como esta quedó adherida a una armadura hueca usando una marca alquímica hecha con la propia sangre de Edward. Desde entonces se unieron a temprana edad a los Alquimistas Estatales con el fin de recuperar sus cuerpos buscando la famosa Piedra Filosofal. Ya con ese contexto, responderé la primera pregunta:

  La primera versión llamada Full Metal Alchemist empezó a la par con el manga, pero en cierto punto, como era de esperarse, la historia en el animé alcanzó al manga y este tardó en ponerse al día, por lo que sus creadores tenían dos opciones, continuar la historia en el animé o cancelarla y continuarla en el manga. Al tener tanta popularidad, optaron por la primera opción.

  Por lo que, llegado a cierto punto, la historia se desvía por completo del manga, dándole un final alternativo que dejó a muchos fans descontentos y con muchas incoherencias, alejadas por completo de la historia del manga y con un final abierto que causa un sabor agridulce para todo lo que sufrieron los hermanos Elric, para mí se merecían algo mejor en esta versión, a mí me dejó bastante mal en aquel entonces. Lo que me lleva a la segunda pregunta:

  Para mí, ambas son igual de buenas, ya que ambas cuentas historias bastante interesantes y originales. Pero si me ponen a elegir yo me quedo con Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, no sólo porque cuenta la historia acorde al manga sino por sus gráficos mejorados, personajes agregados que le dan un plus espectacular a la serie en sí, pero sobre todo por su final. Un final épico que cubre todas las expectativas de sus fans.

  Y aunque en la primera versión de esta serie existen personajes icónicos con historias que le rompen el corazón a cualquiera como la de Nina y su perrito Alexander. O sea, esta versión contada en animé primeramente resultó ser para mi gusto muy cruel y luego de ver ambas versiones, entendí por completo el descontento de los fans.

  Esto lo dejaré a tu criterio. Por mi parte recomiendo ver ambas series, o si eres de los que les gusta el manga, leer el manga como tal (yo no lo hice porque prefiero ver las series en animé). Por lo tanto, si tienes tiempo, te recomiendo ver la primera versión de Full Metal Alchemist que cuenta con un total de 51 episodios de 22 minutos aproximadamente.

  Mientras que la versión de Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood tiene un total de 64 episodios. Ambas historias son muy buenas, ambas valen la pena verse, pero si estas corto de tiempo, inviértelo entonces en Brotherhood. Por mi parte, le doy a ambas versiones:

  Before answering the questions, I should explain a little of what the story of these brothers is about to give context to people who know nothing about this series.

  The story is set in a universe where alchemy allows you to create, repair, and have a better quality of life using this branch of science, but not everyone can do alchemy, and those who can are forbidden to create a human being as it goes against the laws of nature. This is what the Elric Brothers (Edward and Alphonse) did when they wanted to bring their deceased mother back as they were orphaned at a very young age.

  And here the adventure begins, like all forbidden things, something very bad happened while trying this. Edward lost his arm and his leg while Alphonse lost his whole body, taking into account the law of equivalent exchange that says: that to obtain something of the same value, something must be given in exchange taking into account the same materials in quantity and proportion.

  To avoid losing his younger brother, Edward gave up his right arm and left leg in exchange for Alphonse's soul. And so it was attached to a hollow armor using an alchemical mark made from Edward's blood. Since then they joined the State Alchemists at a young age to recover their bodies in search of the famous Philosopher's Stone. With that context, I will answer the first question:

  The first version called Full Metal Alchemist started at the same time as the manga, but at a certain point, as expected, the story in the anime caught up with the manga and the manga was slow to catch up, so the creators had two options, continue the story in the anime or cancel it and continue it in the manga. Since it was so popular, they opted for the first option.

  So, at a certain point, the story deviates completely from the manga, giving it an alternative ending that leaves many fans unhappy and with many inconsistencies, completely away from the manga story and with an open ending that causes a bittersweet taste for all that the Elric brothers suffered, for me they deserved something better in this version, it left me pretty bad at the time. Which brings me to my second question:

  For me, both are equally good, as they both tell interesting and original stories. But if I had to choose, I would choose Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, not only because it tells the story according to the manga, but also because of its improved graphics, and added characters that give a spectacular plus to the series itself, but above all because of its ending. An epic ending that meets all the expectations of its fans.

  And even though in the first version of this series there are iconic characters with heartbreaking stories like Nina and her little dog Alexander. I mean, this anime version first turned out to be too cruel for my taste and after watching both versions, I completely understood the dissatisfaction of the fans.

  I'll leave this up to you. For my part, I recommend watching both series or if you are a manga fan, reading the manga as such (I didn't because I prefer to watch the anime series). So, if you have the time, I recommend watching the first version of Full Metal Alchemist which has a total of 51 episodes of about 22 minutes.
