It is also called the Island of the Turtle Mountain. Only about 10 km from the east coast of Taiwan is the small island of the Turtle Mountain, volcanic type and of great geological interest. It is uninhabited, but excursions are made from the coast of Yilan.
The island belongs to a protected ecological zone. Visitors should follow the instructions of the guides, be careful with rockfalls, cavities, fallen wood, bees, poisonous snakes, etc. in certain places where there are notices
It has an area of 2,841 square kilometers (1,097 square miles), and at the highest point reaches 401 m (1,316 feet) above sea level.
