My quick-tempered boss would come to me with the aim of getting things done better. Whenever I was slow, she tried to hasten me. She complained about every single detail. At some point, I even felt that I wasn't doing enough. I worked beyond my usual capacity. However, I noticed that what I was accustomed to was her nightmare. She couldn't do the job as quickly as I could, yet she gave the false impression that she could.
Most times, she made a lot of mistakes while trying to make me feel worthless.
Back then, I worked not only during the day but also at night, and I wasn't paid nearly as much as I earn now. I took the job with the notion that I was gaining experience; however, I eventually became drained.
At the end of it all, I quit my job.
However, there is a longing within me that still tells me to return to my boss. But there is another longing that tells me to follow my dreams.
People sometimes feel they can create dreams for you to pursue, but I know that their dreams are not necessarily mine to follow, and their paths are not necessarily mine either.
I have also realised that there are strategies in life, and one should not be so myopic as to neglect other people's opinions.
Ultimately, it is my choice to accept or reject the opinions of others. However, I never forget that I am in charge of my own life.
Parents are angels, and they often recognise our inclinations from an early age. One could yearn for something while detesting another.
Mum used to say that I was skilled at repairing gadgets and other things. She felt that I should become an engineer, but I chose to study Anatomy instead because I wanted to become a lecturer.
My boss also had good plans for me, but she was looking for ways to incorporate me into her own dreams.
Now, is my life really based on their dreams and suggestions? No. However, their suggestions have been helpful to me. Honestly, it would be a lie to say that where I am today is solely the product of my own efforts or beliefs. I had a dream of becoming a teacher, but that dream was not built on my efforts alone.
I haven't attained what I once dreamt of, but I am still a dreamer, just like Joseph the dreamer.
Regarding the second question about purpose, hmm! I have asked myself a series of questions about purpose, and I have come to the conclusion that when one's aim aligns with God's will, one is more likely to achieve greater things.
I have several talents, but the challenge is turning those talents into money.
I can teach Anatomy, but I am not teaching it right now. I can repair things, but I am not using that skill to make money either.

A machine is designed to perform a task, but its value is realised when it is put to use. In the same way, possessing talents is one thing, and putting them to productive use is another. I have skills in teaching Anatomy and repairing gadgets, yet I am not fully utilising them. The question, therefore, is not whether I have talents, but whether I am using them effectively to create value, earn a living, and fulfil my potential.
I know that I have mentored many people who have gone on to become great anatomists, but is that really my purpose? I have also repaired many gadgets, but is that really my purpose?
Right now, I don't really feel fulfilled as a man, and I still yearn for more.
Therefore, I feel that trying to find satisfaction in one's work is a rather shady way of defining purpose.

Thanks.
