Here are the things I had learnt from the teachings in the indoctrination session.
WE are made to understand that giving should be a voluntary act and not something one should be forced to do.
If a person doesn't give tithes it doesn't Mean the person is stealing from God.
People gave willingly and voluntarily to the apostles in the Bible.
2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Philippians 4:15-16
Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.
For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.
There is not fixed amount for offering according to the scriptures, offering should be voluntary.
Psalm 116: 17-18
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.
If we make a Vow to someone we should always endeavor to fulfill it and keep to it. Because this is a voluntary act that we choose by ourselves to give.
God has no pleasure in fools, those that make vows and do not keep to it. It's better you don't vow at all than to vow and don't fulfil it.
Ecclesiastes 5:4-5
When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hathno pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
A vow is something wonderful. Make a vow if you want something from God. Like if you have an illness and you want God to heal you. You can make a vow in the church and eventually God heals you, you keep to your vow and fulfil it.
Even apostles in the new testament made vows like Paul.
A vow is something you will not be commanded on what to do rather you will do according to what you vowed.
Hebrews 13:15
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
WE should always continually offer Thanksgiving to God.
Psalm 50:23;
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
