So, as this happened today, and it happens to be the same day that I've been accepted to Steemit I thought it only fitting that I share this story.
I've been the proud owner of a black cat for the past year. He was found as a kitten on a road side just a few miles away form my house in Sligo, Ireland. Abandoned. He was taken to the local vetenary practice, where a friend of mine works. Once she advertised him on facebook I was quick to respond and I brought him home.
Now, I know there are many cats in the world but this little fella was special. And, when I say special. I mean special in a 'not the full shilling' kind of way.
I didn't notice much at first. I thought he was just a little piculure, very quiet and timid. Didn't meow, would often run away and seemed a bit feral. But the poor little thing had a rough start so I was happy to take him on.
Moby came on in leaps and bounds in the first few months. Still didn't meow, but you would hear him purring from the other room. He ruled the house. Hiding places dotted all over the place. Wardrobes, beds, t.v stands, couches you'd find him any where.
Then Christmas came and I was going on Christmas break to Barcelona and the cat had to go to a cattery.
After we got home we noticed that Moby's hind legs looked week and he wasn't operating like he used to. So we brought him to the vet. We had xray's done and nothing of importance showed up. He was given medication and sent home to recover.
However, he never did. I kept him on steroids since then but over the last couple of months everything started to catch up with him. All of his little antics slowly faded and his walk progressively worsened. He was super resilient still eating well and using litter trays.
But all of his movements started to look painful. So today, we took the decision to put Moby to sleep.
RIP Mobz... was a pleasure doing our lap of the sun together x
