What will you do when someone you love and thought loved you so much turns out to be a liar and manipulator?
I came across this movie last week on Netflix and decided to watch it. Seriously, I was bored at the first few scenes until my sister told me she had seen a lot of reviews about it online and thinks it's a great movie. I had to be patient to see as the drama would unfold.
The movie tells a story of love and betrayal. It was released on Netflix on Friday, August 15, 2025.
Adaora (Nse Ikpe-Etim)Is a young successful woman in her late thirties, whom everyone, including her family, is expecting to get married and have kids, as she isn't getting younger, even with all her achievements.
Jaiye (James Gardiner)A young manipulative man, he is into the fashion world and also Adaora's husband.
Anna (Erica Nlewedim)
Supposedly Jaiye's cousin and business partner
Movie Summary
Jaiye approached Adaora in disguise to be her wardrobe consultant, but barely two months after knowing each other, he proposed marriage to her, knowing fully well that it was something she wanted, and Adaora, seeing how sweet and loving he was, accepted him, and they got married. Everything was going on sweet and well; they had their first child, which, for Jaiye, facial reactions showed he wasn't happy about.
Things started changing when Adaora wanted a second child, but Jaiye was against it, but despite his decision, she went ahead, and he asked her to abort it. Adaora at first didn't want to but was put in a dilemma when Jaiye asked her to choose between him and the unborn baby. Wanting to remain married, Adaora chose her husband and terminated the pregnancy. All hell broke loose when the three of them were involved in an accident and they lost their daughter. While Adaora's family was telling her not to worry, that she can still take in, the doctor asked her family to excuse them and told her she can't have a child again because of the hysterectomy she did.
Hurt and heartbroken, she went in search of her husband to confront him but found him with another lady. Filled with rage, she ran her car over him and was arrested and charged for manslaughter after he was confirmed dead in India, where he had initially flown for surgery. I wouldn't want to spill much, so check the movie out to find out how it ended.
My Review/Opinion
First of all, I didn't know why they gave it this title. I understand what they are trying to say, but I feel they could have given it a better title.
Secondly, the movie is giving Tyler Perry vibes. The movie is an interesting watch, though, even though, like I said, the first few scenes were kind of boring for me. The storyline is relatable; it's what a lot of young women go through around here, not just those in their thirties but also in their twenties. The pressure of getting married and having kids has blinded a lot of ladies and made them make mistakes when choosing life partners.
Rating/Recommendation
I would rate it a 7/10 and would also recommend it.
THANK YOU FOR READING TO THE END 馃
