I don't know the answers to these questions! It was a freewrite. I never know when I start what's going to come out of me, and only figure out what went in long after I've finished writing it. But I will try to make it a bit clearer.

I think of George and the two guard dogs as very very good at protecting the countess and have done it many times before this night. A few people (or beasts if you'd like) would like to see her dead because she knows this secret. Those three are so good that the countess has never had to use her gun before, but she does know how to use, and would if the intruder ever got past George and the very well-trained dogs. The dogs are fighting machines.

The two numbered questions are yours to answer. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you do that.

I do have an idea of what or who the crawling creature is, but that doesn't have to be your idea. You don't need to know what I was thinking to write a continuation. It's just a three step freewrite, kind of like what @zeldacroft was thinking of doing.
