Very interesting discussion! I have little experience on social media. I'm on FB of course, alienating my real life friends with my new and improved political views, then I found steem, and now hive. That's it! I could not even have envisioned a site like your now defunct site when Bill Clinton was president!! (man do you show your age with that one). I got my first email account around 2005!
Your thoughts on what has changed in all that time are intriguing. I do feel a bit estranged from people now, covid nonsense hasn't helped with that, but I have made what I think are abiding friendships on steem/hive. Lord knows I'm not here for the money, so it must be the people. It got me creating content for the first time in my life except for a small body of poetry from ten years ago. I'd say I am both a creator and a consumer. I've learned a lot on this platform. I love a lot of the folks here and their work, from recipes to philosophy.
