Now imagine how much waste there is across the entire country across every level and agency of government.
Makes me wonder if money is even a thing.
I don't want the government in charge of anything other than what they absolutely must be in charge of such as protecting the sovereignty of the nation by way of the military.
Agreed! Governments everywhere are doing far more than is good for our well-being. The law has become a slew of jokes. For instance, during the height of the covidcon (it's still going on) I was deemed a domestic terrorist, and was very afraid I'd be relieved of my assets and sent off to a concentration camp. We are all one law or regulation away from prison. And now, with a public execution, set to be livestreamed which has been approved by our president, we've gone fully into surreal.
I've gone off topic. A government handout helped me and my family survive for a while there - we qualified for Medicaid for a bit. I was told at that time, by my case worker, to not report when my income increased (which was expected in a few months) so that I could continue to receive the supposed benefits. I got out of there at my first opportunity.
My understanding is that things have changed at FEMA, and it can now take many months to get any money from disaster relief because of all the hoops you have to jump through to verify you are truly worthy of receiving them.
