I am always fascinated by your eloping story. It feels very uncommon in this day and age. I've known people that just tell their friends and family outright that they will have a small wedding to save money. I also have a friend who went abroad by himself to a long distance partner and got married there. From what I know, none of his relatives were able to go, and none in our friend group as well. With the high costs of everything, people seem to be more understanding with these things and decisions.
