No greater love
Many has taken the time of valentine to be a time of having romantic love with the opposite sex, which makes them to actually miss the meaning of love. St. Valentine himself didn't take such a bold step in risking his life so that some people after his death will then use that as an excuse for fornication and adultery all in the name of val. St. Valentine was persecuted to death because of his believe that lovers should be allowed to marry themselves irrespective of dier occupation being mostly soldiers at that time. This made him to conduct secret solemnization for them which summarily led to his death.
Now, after his death, those who benefitted and will also benefit from his actions began the celebration of an holiday in honour of him which keeps spreading like wild-fire all over the world. But the actual thing valentine stood for was lost. Why? because human beings will always go beyond their limits to satisfy their evil desires. Before you notice what was going on, love has actually turned into lust and that's what many are calling valentine today. No greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. You can't show love to others without having received the love of God which is Jesus Christ himself, he is the lover of your soul. Without receiving his love, all your display of love will only be to satisfy your evil desires. When you have received his love, then you will be able to extend that love to others.
So, how did Jesus showed his love to mankind?, He showed his love by dying on the cross of Calvary for the whole world, no greater love. Once you receive this great love, then you are supernaturally imparted to show that same love to others without any attached strings.
