Sativa or Indica

All Cannabis plants can be freely crossed, resulting in completely fertile hybrids. As a summary and in general, we usually speak today of one species, Cannabis sativa, with three subspecies: sativa, indica and ruderalis. The distinction of Cannabis sativa subspecies is based on plant anatomy, growth habit, leaf variation and seed type.

One key to distinguishing them could be the following:
SATIVAS
High plants with little branching. The seeds are fine, uniform in colour, usually lacking the thin outer layer of the perianthon (the set of floral leaves that form the flower's envelope), which gives it its characteristic marble-like appearance. The seeds do not have a defined joint, they are firmly attached to the stem. We are talking about Cannabis sativa sativa.
The root system is very deep and not very expansive, the roots are not very competitive compared to the Indica plants and are somewhat more difficult to cultivate than the Indica plants.

The flowering is usually extended to September due to the high number of hours of darkness that they need to complete the flowerigen (hormone that incites the plant to flower) the buds are usually small and very separated, the production is smaller than that of an indica and the maturation time is much longer, arriving in countries like Spain to not finish maturing by the cold, are plants adapted to the equatorial regions of the globe.
The high is usually very cerebral and euphoric, you can sweep the whole Gran Via in Madrid and not stop laughing, to be with colleagues is the most indicated type of plant, sure laughter and much good rust.
INDICAS
Normally small plant (usually 1.5 m), quite branched, seeds indicate very bracketed, more or less conical... The base of the seed has a simple joint and has a thin mottled layer on the outside, falling off at maturity. It is the species Cannabis sativa indica.
The radical system is much more competitive than the sativas, and they need a lot of space in the pot in less time than the sativas.

Flowering is usually very fast, in hybrids such as NL #5 can be as little as 6 weeks, the buds are characterized by being very compact and very resinous (are plants suitable for hash manufacture). They can give up to 500 grams dried and manicured.
The balloon they produce is usually one of introspection, they make you sleepy, fast thinking (very suitable for inspiration, for writers, cartoonists...) absolute well-being... in short, they leave you leveraged on the sofa. The balloon is very similar to the Moroccan hash but much more powerful (we are talking about the hash that arrives in Spain, which is usually very poorly cut and of very insufficient quality). These plants are more suitable for when you are alone.
RUDELARIS
A small, branched plant (approximately 0.5 to 1 m), not very branched, more or less conical, with a fleshy protuberance at the base of the seed and also possessing a thin mottled layer on its perianthon. If these conditions are met we are dealing with Cannabis sativa ruderalis.
These are plants that are not used for narcotic cannabis cultivation because of the low amount of THC they produce (low psychoactivity, low buzz). The three subspecies have been geographically separated for a long time, the indica being typical of Southeast Asia, the ruderalis from Russia and the sativa from Europe and Africa.
