Further review of the article says that a total of 4,000,000 LAT will be set as an incentive to reward PlatON validators.
For those not familiar with what a validator is, basically they help keep the entire network functioning by staking/locking a min of 100k LAT and also hosting several servers which helps keep the entire network stable and fully operational.
Their task while it might seem easy to most persons, in depth study shows that it requires one to be fully dedicated to the network by having a good working system capable of handling the various task and challenges the network throws at it while also help in proposal voting and decision making.
Their task require a good amount of time as they need to be active for 99.9% of the time and this allows consumers (me, you, and everyone) who make any form of transaction in the PlatON ecosystem to have a seamless experience without any form of huddle and also enjoy a near zero transaction fee.
The purpose of the event is to reward users based on their uptime, amount staked, and general overall performance keeping the network active on daily basis.
This I think is a well deserved incentive and also one to create a more active community and for that I say a kudos to the team behind the PlatON Network.
