Los mejores consejos contra el estrés / Iniciativa @emiliorios 7mo día / (Esp-Eng)
Fotografía Original Editada en Pixlr AppGreetings my people of@holos-lotus today I am going to write a little about stress and some things I do to cope with it. I would like to thank my good friend
@emiliorios for the initiative and for cordially inviting me to participate. I will gladly speak according to my experience, hoping that it can be of help or utility to anyone who can read me.
What is stress?
Some may not be aware of it, but stress is a normal physical and emotional response of the body to stressful or challenging situations. In our evolutionary past it was a natural response to real danger but today that biological response is triggered by our everyday thoughts and anxieties. The downside of this is that when stress persists for prolonged periods, it can be detrimental to physical and mental health. Stress can cause a range of health problems, including depression, anxiety, sleep and appetite disorders, headaches, hypertension, heart disease, digestive and sexual problems, skin disorders, weakened immune systems and increased risk of infectious diseases.
What do I do to deal with stress? #1 Physical Activity .
Fotografía Original en el Club de Judo Gokyo - Barquisimeto -Like most Venezuelans my life is a constant stress. I am coming out of a separation, processing a divorce, starting my life from scratch since I have no home after having my own roof over my head, at my father's house, struggling to give the best quality time to my son when I can share with him and a long etc... my head is constantly full of thoughts that I need to organize and manage so I don't end up in the madhouse. One of my "relief valves" because that's what I like to call them, is physical activity but more specifically JUDO. I have been practicing this martial art for a long time now, I am a brown belt in JUDO and every time I can go there my brain unloads all the stress, doing fights, fighting hand to hand with men and women, some bigger and some stronger, but always giving my best and in an atmosphere of companionship and camaraderie. I also joined a gym to exercise my muscles and thus help lower my cortisol levels. Without a doubt, an enemy of stress and all the problems that come with it is exercise or physical activity, never neglect this.
#2 Sharing time with my loved ones
Fotografía Original junto a mi papa, mi hermano y mi hijoOne of the things that makes me regain my center and put aside the thoughts that make me anxious and generate stress, are precisely the moments with my loved ones, also with my friends. It is these moments that are worth it, because we are finite beings, with a limited time to be alive and in that short period of time it is worth investing in moments with the people we love. Have you not noticed that the times you have lived very special moments with family or friends are always engraved in your memory? That is why I am in favor of organizing and taking time to connect with those people who are special in our lives. Talking, having a coffee or a few beers with friends, taking a walk with the kids, etc... all this helps to occupy our head with feelings of wellbeing, counteracting stress.
#3 Practicing Stoicism and meditation .
A friend, more specifically the girlfriend of one of my best friends one day without further ado shared with me a pdf file of a book called "Everyday Stoicism" I still don't know why she sent it to me but thanks to that I became very interested in the Stoics and their way of seeing and assuming life. When I started to be aware that there are things that are beyond my control I inevitably began to stop giving importance to things that are naturally out of my reach (weather, accidents, people's character, political situations etc...) in this way my daily stress lowered to much more manageable levels. On the other hand there is meditation and the Wimhof breathing method. When I started to suffer from chronic anxiety, immediately after every panic attack or anxiety episode I started to apply Wimhof breathing (A series of deep breaths followed by periods of apnea). These tools helped me a lot and I encourage you to investigate about meditation and the wimhof method as they are things that can help us to improve many aspects related to our psychological health.
