I took this photo of Linderhof Palace's bedchamber, built by Ludwig II of Bavaria. The baroque palace was built in the style of Louis XIV of France, whom Ludwig II greatly admired. The sleeping room was conceived as a public room and the elevated position of the bed, surrounded by a golden balustrade, gives the impression of being an altar.
