Good day community

Start this tour from the so-called Sierra Morena, south of the province of Badajoz located in the community of Extremadura, in Spain. The intention was to tour the entire southern area and visit all these small towns that are in this area of the country. As I got closer to this area I saw many changes in the landscape that changed on the way to get here. From what had been a journey of kilometers of plains and lowlands, a climb began towards hills and mountains that changed completely at every moment of the way. In the distance he could see a town and in its background a castle that dominated the entire area, Fregenal de la Sierra.

White towns close to the community of Andalusia, these being almost neighbors on their borders. Influences of the way of life of the South of the country very marked in its constructions, streets and people. What surprises me most about this area is the strong predominance of light, the illumination of white that is used to refract heat and sunlight. This area is quite warm and the houses, buildings and constructions in general are usually painted in very light colors, in this case, white.

When I walk through its streets and after a long trip to get to Fregenal, I realize that there is much to observe. I get lost in a labyrinth of small streets adorned with medieval times where it seems this is a remote time. The sensations are very pleasant, you can breathe peace, tranquility, it seems that time has stopped. I sit down and begin to observe from a small height the entire landscape and the impressive church tower that dominates this space.

I ask the locals who explain to me some important historical events that have me trapped. They explain to me that this area has been inhabited since prehistoric times and they document me with some images of menhirs. Later they tell me about its historical past and its contact with the Knights of the Order of the Temple. This part makes me quite emotional because those gentlemen and everything related to them has always impressed me.

Finishing my tour, I went to the downtown area of the town, there I noticed many details that appeared in every corner as I was walking. Then I went to eat typical products from this area, food from the south is light, full of flavours, smells, textures, olive oil and a clear Mediterranean influence. I ordered a vegetable stew and was surprised by the explosion of flavors and freshness of that exquisite avocado, then a coffee. I stayed all afternoon following the tour of this beautiful town and recreating myself in all the aspects that I was seeing. The truth is that this type of trip greatly enriches my spirit and my idea is to visit all the towns in this region taking images to remember and for my work.

Castillo y villa de Fregenal de la Sierra paseo histórico

Inicie este recorrido desde la llamada Sierra Morena, al sur de la provincia de Badajoz ubicada en la comunidad de Extremadura, en España. La intención era recorrer toda esta zona sur y visitar todas estas pequeñas poblaciones que se encuentran en esta zona del país. En la medida que me iba acercando a esta zona veía muchos cambios en el paisaje que modificaban en camino hasta llegar hasta aquí. De lo que había sido un recorrido de kilómetros de llanos y zonas bajas empezaba una subida hacia cerros y montaña que cambiaban completamente a cada instante del camino. A lo lejos podía divisar una población y en su fondo un castillo que dominaba toda esta zona, Fregenal de la Sierra.

Pueblos blancos cercanos a la comunidad de Andalucía siendo estos casi vecinos en sus fronteras. Influencias de el modo de vida del Sur del país muy marcadas en sus construcciones, calles y gentes. Lo que más me sorprende de esta zona es la fuerte predominancia de la luz, la iluminación del blanco que es usado para refractar el calor y luz solar. Esta zona es bastante cálida y las casas, edificios y construcciones en general suelen estar pintados de colores muy claros, en este caso, el blanco.

Cuando camino por sus calles y después de un largo viaje para llegar a Fregenal me doy cuenta que hay mucho que observar. Me pierdo en un laberinto de pequeñas calles engalanadas de época medieval donde parece este es un tiempo remoto. Las sensaciones son muy agradables, se respira paz, tranquilidad, parece el tiempo se haya detenido. Me siento y empiezo a observar desde un pequeño alto todo el paisaje y la impresionante torre de la iglesia que domina este espacio.
Pregunto a la gente del lugar que me explican algunos acontecimientos históricos importantes que me tiene atrapado. Me explican que se habita ya esta zona desde la época prehistórica y me documentan con unas imágenes de menhires posteriormente me hablan de su pasado Histórica y de su contacto con los caballeros de la orden del Temple. Esta parte me emociona bastante porque esos caballeros y todo lo relacionado con ellos siempre me ha impresionado.

Ya terminando mi recorrido me fui a la zona centro de la villa, allí me fije en muchos detalles que según iba caminando aparecían en cada rincón. Luego me fui a comer productos típicos de esta zona, la comida del sur es ligera, llena de sabores, olores, texturas, de aceite de oliva y clara influencia mediterránea. Pedí un pisto de verduras y me sorprendió la explosión de sabores y frescuras de aquel exquisito palto, luego un café. Me quede toda la tarde siguiendo el recorrido por esta hermosa villa y recreándome en todos los aspectos que iba viendo. La verdad es que este tipo de viajes de enriquece mucho mi espíritu y mi idea es recorrerme todos los pueblos de esta región tomando imágenes para el recuerdo y para mis trabajos.
