Plasencia is a small city located north of the province of Cáceres, in the Extremadura region of Spain. For years this city became a meeting point between two worlds in Europe, the kingdoms of the north, Christians, Goths and Visigoths and the Arabs located to the south of the city and the European continent in their 500 years of conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, Al Andalus. My walk through this formidable city is an encounter with a remote past, bustling with energy and commerce and today it remains an important meeting point for cultures and commerce due to its geographical position.
Architectural legacy in Plasencia
An obligatory and visible stop from all points of the city and the outskirts is its imposing cathedral, in it the architectural details of different periods in its construction are evident. It is surprising how when looking only at small spaces of this facade you can see how the stone artists of that time left their art embodied in it with granite and it shows that the quality and grandeur of these works are worthy of being mentioned and remembered by all mankind.
Focused on taking pictures, my camera kept snapping corners, walls, pillars, columns, and other fascinating architectural details. One can spend a good while looking at this facade that tells a great story of centuries as if it were a book. The most surprising thing was opening these files when downloading them and transferring them to the computer, it is here where I could really appreciate every detail, stone blade, gesture, figure and other issues that captured my goal that day.
If the purpose of these stonemasons artists was to make eternal work, a work that lasts over time they have more than achieved. When the traveler, tourist or observer passes in front of this beautiful cathedral, it is impossible not to notice and see details in each turn that one makes to its perimeter. The state of conservation is amazing and it strikes me that there are hundreds of years of work in a single piece. This detail sometimes goes unnoticed and we only see what it is in itself, but when I am in these places I usually reflect a lot and my mind leads me to think about the events and everything that time has observed seeing it from another perspective.
Every detail, every corner, every corner caught me, I spent more than 4 hours walking around this beautiful facade before entering to see the impressive interior. They do not allow photography inside the cathedral so I had to settle for the imposing architectural details of this beauty of work. The truth is that it was not just this, the tour of that area adjacent to the cathedral, cobbled streets, majestic buildings and delicious gardens is something worth visiting in this incredible city in the north of the province of Cáceres. I invite you to go and visit the city of Plasencia, a city that will leave you in love.

Plasencia es una pequeña ciudad situada al norte de la provincia de Cáceres, en la región de Extremadura en España. Durante años esta ciudad se convirtió en puerta de encuentro entre dos mundos en Europa, los reinos del norte, cristianos, godos y visigodos y los árabes situados al sur de la ciudad y del continente europeo en sus 500 años de conquista de la península ibérica, Al Andalus. Mi paseo por esta formidable ciudad es un encuentro con un pasado remoto, bulle de energía y comercio y a día de hoy sigue siendo un importante punto de encuentro de culturas y comercio debido a su posición geográfica.
Parada obligada y visible desde todos los puntos de la ciudad y las afueras es su imponente catedral, en ella los detalles arquitectónicos de diferentes épocas en su construcción se hacen patentes. Es sorpréndete como al fijarse solamente en pequeños espacios de esta fachada se pueden observar como los artistas de la piedra d entonces dejaron en ella plasmada su arte con el granito y demuestra que la calidad y grandiosidad de estos trabajos son dignos de ser mencionados y recordados por toda la humanidad.
Concentrado en tomar imágenes mi cámara no paraba de fotografiar esquinas, muros, pilares, columnas y otros detalles arquitectónicos fascinantes. Uno puede estar un buen rato fijándose en esta fachada que cuenta una gran historia de siglos como si de un libro se tratase. Lo más sorprendente fue abrir luego estos archivos a la hora de descargarlos y pasarlos al ordenador, es aquí donde realmente pude apreciar cada detalle, hoja de piedra, gesto, figura y otras cuestiones que capturaron mi objetivo ese día.
Si el objeto de estos artistas canteros de la piedra era hacer un trabajo eterno, un trabajo que perdura en el tiempo lo han conseguido con creces. Cuando el viajero, turista o observador pasa por delante de esta hermosa catedral es imposible no fijarse y ver detalles en cada vuelta que uno da a su perímetro. El estado de conservación es asombroso y me llama mucho la atención que son cientos de años los que observo de trabajo en una sola pieza. Este detalle a veces pasa desapercibido y solo vemos lo que es en si el mismo, pero cuando estoy en estos lugares suelo reflexionar bastante y mi mente me lleva a pensar sobre los acontecimientos y todo lo que el tiempo ha observado viéndolo desde otra perspectiva.
Cada detalle, cada esquina, cada rincón me atrapo, estuve más de 4 horas dando vueltas alrededor de esta hermosa fachada entes de entrar para ver el impresionante interior. No permiten fotografiar dentro de la catedral así es que me tuve que conformar con los detalles arquitectónicos imponentes de esta hermosura de trabajo. La verdad es que no fue solo esto, el recorrido por esa zona colindante a la catedral, calles empedradas, edificios majestuosos y jardines deliciosos es algo digno de visitar en esta increíble ciudad del norte de la provincia de Cáceres. Os invito a que vayáis y visitéis la ciudad de Plasencia, ciudad que os dejara enamorados.
