Prejudice, that which makes us judge a priori events before they happen and people before meeting them. It's the theme of this week's songs, a theme selected by ur Spotlight artist @lisbeth26.
We can have prejudices without knowing it... and we must be careful to read our lives between the lines to discover and eliminate them. Like this song that I selected to participate today: "Manantial de Corazón" (Heart Spring) , by the Venezuelan singer-songwriter Yordano. At first glance we would think that it has nothing to do with prejudice, but there is a hidden prejudice: The central character says that he feels sad and alone, he looks in the mirror, and sees a young man, but he feels like a hundred-year-old. There is the prejudice: he assumes that a 100-year-old person must feel sad and alone... without realizing that he, being young, feels that way. Which means that these feelings have nothing to do with age but with the adverse circumstances that may exist in life. Hidden and underhanded or uncovered, prejudice damages human relationships. Hopefully we can, cleanse our lives of them, just as "The Little Prince" cleansed his planet of baobabs.
