If white is included in the colour picker, I expect the app to able to use a white background colour.
When the background colour is set to white
from the default ash colour to white, there are no changes noticable.
From a different colour to white, the background reverts to the default ash colour.
Launch Ocelot app and notice the default background colour.
Launch the side bar by swiping left-to-right from the edge of your screen.
Locate the settings option on the side bar and click on it to view the settings page.
Click on Looks and then Background colour.
Pick white from the colour picker and make it hard by sliding the points on the two bars below to the extreme right.
Or simply input the colour code ffffffff in the column below the two bars.
Hit the back navigation key twice to arrive at the home screen and watch the page for changes.
You may follow the steps again to set a different background colour to confirm the second actual behavior.
